Appraiser - Commissioned | Crawford & Company | Rochester, NY
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Crawford & Company is the world's largest

Under the direction of Branch Manager/Unit Manager/Supervisor, appraise
vehicle losses providing accurate cost factors including damage, repair,
replacement value or salvage value; analyze and identify cause and
origin of various types of losses, and negotiate settlements.
Responsibilities for this position include: examine damaged vehicles to
determine interior/exterior repair costs for claim settlements; utilize
standard automotive labor and parts databases or manuals to determine
replacement costs; evaluate salvage value for total losses; interpret
client's special instructions to accurately handle claims; negotiate
charges with repair facilities for replacement costs and labor; prepare
reports/documents for appropriate personnel as required; record case
time/billings; solicit business locally when called upon to do so.
Frequent interaction with branch personnel, body shop personnel and
claimants primarily to exchange information.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school or vocational school graduate or technical
training or experience in the auto repair industry is desirable; or an
equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid
driver's license; maintenance of adjuster's license; additional
continuing education courses as required by Crawford & Company and
jurisdiction of branch office. Knowledge and skills required for this
position are: in-depth working knowledge of various types of vehicle
construction and repair techniques, ability to read and interpret
technical reference material, good verbal and written communication
skills, mathematical ability, negotiating skills, and computer
skills-ability to learn automated appraisal system.
